DIY Flounce Bell Sleeves (Circle Ruffles)

blush and floral flounce top with floral tree background
I absolutely love bell sleeves! I love them because they add a lovely feminine touch to any garment. When I first started to sew bell sleeves, I would make them by gathering a strip of fabric like in this tutorial. This time around, I decided to do something different and make flounces, or circle ruffles, instead. I love the look of flounces because they flow so elegantly. Flounce bell sleeves are essentially mini circle skirts that are attached to your sleeves.

I started off with this darling blush top with a small shoulder ruffle. For the flounce bell sleeves, I used a gorgeous double brush poly from Sincerely Rylee Fabrics. By creating mini circle skirts for your sleeves, you achieve this gorgeous flounce. I paired my new top with a circle skirt for ultimate twirl and drape. :)

How to Hem a Circle Skirt Using a Serger

modest crushed velvet circle skirt

Oh, circle skirts! They're so easy to make since they're essentially only one piece. The most dreaded part of a circle skirt is the hemming. The fabric slips, it's hard to pin a circular shape, and it's never-ending pinning because a circle piece is so large. The first time I hemmed a circle skirt, I used bias binding. The end result was very pretty and clean, but I don't always have coordinating bias binding available.

There's a quick and easy way to hem a circle skirt using a serger.

Happy March!
It's currently pouring outside and it's cloudy. But, with each passing day, it's a day closer to spring. So for now, I'll just brace this rainy season and stay cuddled up inside with these cozy fleece joggers. I combined leopard print fleece and crushed velvet to make these ultimate comfy joggers. This was my first time sewing up some joggers and I can't wait to sew more!

Plus, I created the comfiest and coziest outfit with the help of these leopard print joggers. Who says you can't look stylish, comfortable, and modest... all at once? :)
