"Sunflower Fields" Tunic Refashion

"Sunflower Fields" tunic was refashioned out of a navy lace top. I love how it ended up having that "shabby chic" look. The navy gingham fabric had a raw selvage that I liked, so I made it the hem. Read on below to see how I made the tunic.

This is the lace top that I started off with.

STEPS

1. I cut the lace shirt as shown with the pink dots. I also cut my navy fabric on the fold.

2. I snipped off the bottom part of the lace shirt.

3. I sewed the navy gingham fabric shut (seam) and I sewed a gathering stitch along the top of the fabric. The zig zag stitch is just so the fabric won't ravel.

4. Next, I connected the lace and plaid together as shown. The tunic is shown inside out in the photo.

TA DA!
The navy lace shirt had a patch pocket which I sewed on the tunic as decoration.

A little #OOTD.

  1. Makes me wish I hadn't discarded a lace top that I wouldn't wear. The pocket is a fun touch. Well done!

    1. I always fight the urge to throw things away. I am afraid I'll need/want them later. :) Thank you!
