I was actually planning to post this refashion on Valentine's Day (yesterday), but decided to push it back a day. I mean everyday should be Valentine's Day anyways! God is LOVE. :)
So back on topic...
This is a good tutorial for remaking tank tops into modest tops. (Without having to wear something under nor over)
I started with this tank top & wanted the top part to be like a t-shirt and with a sweetheart neckline.
I didn't have a t-shirt I could use for the top part, so I had to make it from scratch. If you are following this tutorial, and you have an extra t-shirt already, it'll be alot quicker! (Scroll down to where it says: START HERE)
I traced a shirt that fit me well and added seam allowance. (Except on the neckline since I was going to add binding) Both the fabric and shirt are on the fold.
Next I traced the sleeves (plus seam allowance)...
Which ended up like this:
For the back part I added extra on the sides since the fabric didn't stretch. (Excuse the neckline, I cut it afterwards)
All the pieces on the fold.
This is how to sew a basic shirt. After that, the sleeves go on and you got a shirt!
I cut out the tank top with the sweetheart neckline.
Then I cut the t-shirt I made according to the shape of the tank top. I left about 1/2" for seam allowance.
It ended up looking like this:
Then I just sewed the bottom part of the tank top to the t-shirt I made.
(Wrong sides of fabrics together)
I made some bias binding last minute for the neckline.
