How to Make and Sew Your Own Binding

In this tutorial I will show you how to make and sew your own binding. This way you can add that finishing touch to anything you sew.

Disclaimer: I didn't cut out this binding on bias since the fabric I was using for this was already super stretchy. If you're using a non stretch fabric, then cut it on bias. 

1. Cut out your binding piece and iron it like this:

(Make one side slightly longer than the other because that will be the side not visible)

I made this binding to be 1/2", so I cut out a 2" strip to give me enough room to fold in.

2. Pin around your binding & sew. Leave 2 pieces hanging to close off your binding.

3. Sew as shown below.

4. Pin down & sew it shut.
